Responsibilities:
Cashiers' primary role is to provide the best possibly customer service by:
Greeting Customers and provide assistance on sales floor providing excellent customer service skills.
Upsell (offering additional products that are helpful with the current product being purchased)/offer special products to increase sales.
This includes sign up for new accounts (Astro).
Process customers purchases accurately and efficiently at the point-of-sale.
Assists with pricing/labeling of in-store merchandise and places merchandise on the sales floor in accordance with company requirements of store layout.
Counting and verifying cash register drawer before and after each shift (each shift changeover is required to start and end with the correct amount).
Assist Customers with exchanges and returns in accordance with company policy.
Communicate with co-workers and supervisors to aid in satisfying customer requirements.
Answer all in-store phone calls (after 3 rd ring, or when required by manager).
Call for and assist with carry-outs, trash, pick-up, and other assistance as needed.
Straighten and face products for ease of display for customers, condense areas to arrange more/new product overflow.
Maintain a neat, clean and organized register area.
Sweep and mop aisles as needed and/or required by manager maintaining a close proximity to the register at all times.
Maintaining a clean and safe Foyer/Entrance way for customers; this includes but is not limited to cleaning of windows, shaking out rug, vacuuming, ect.
) Cleaning dog wash area after every use.
Gathering of carts inside and outside the store premises.
Check Mail.
Fill all beverage and food areas and other supplies as needed and/or required by manager.
Required to report immediately upon discovery and/or accident via the proper incident reporting procedures any and all damage to the company property and injuries that occur from or other injuries sustained.
Organize and prioritize job tasks and requirements.
Any additional duties deemed necessary within overall job scope assigned by managers.
Requirement to take lunch break at time deemed required by manager.
Requirement for overtime is only authorized in writing expressly by Management approval.
Pets Associates' primary role is to assist customers with their questions & to keep the pet area neat & orderly.
Greeting customers and assisting with any and all questions they may have, offer suggestions for better understanding and knowledge Maintaining a neat, clean and organized pet area at all times Make sure all animal equipment is working efficiently and at full power (fish tanks, filters, change carbon, light bulbs not burned out, correct bulbs in habitats being used, etc.
) Clean/maintain all animal habitats and properly feed and water them (at least once daily) Remove deceased animals for all habitats daily & follow proper procedures for inventory purposes Update/maintain info on animals and share with other employees Calls for and assists with carry-outs, trash pick-up, and other assistance as needed Scan in and set out product on shelves (keep shelves as full as possible) Pricing /Labeling various merchandise and help place on floor Make sure all sale signs are properly posted on correct product and visible to customers (report to manager any damaged or ripped signs to be replaced) Upsell/offer special promo products and products based on rewards program and house margin.
Ability to ring up customers when help is needed Clean/Maintain foyer/entrance area (clean windows, sweep, shake rug, etc.
) Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor Requirement to take lunch break at time deemed required by manager.

Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures EMPLOYEE QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED required Retail or experience with animals preferred Prior cashier experience and/or customer service experience Flexible availability Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to stand/move/bend/lift/bag/reach for prolonged periods of time (up to 8
hrs per shift) Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to take direction from supervisors and implement plans set forth Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and attention to detail Basic computer skills which include but not limited to; keyboard functions, Microsoft programs, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS Part-Time position, working less than 30 hours a week on a variable schedule Overtime may be required as needed and authorized by management In the winter certain areas of the store may be cold (in some cases below 30 degrees) working environment during the winter months and hot in the summer months (in some cases above 90 degrees); appropriate attire for working conditions is required.

Job Category is retail associates & cashiers Starting pay will be $11 an hour with part time hours up to 29 hours a week.
Shifts will vary between 4 to 8 hours and day and evening.
Weekends will be required.
