Transportation Specialist Associate

Shift ‚€“¬ Monday - Friday, 4:00 pm - 12:30 am

The Associate Transportation Specialist requires a broad and thorough knowledge of transportation and plays an important role in all aspects of XPO Logistics' Transportation Management Group, including execution and long-range planning. What you'll do on a typical day:



  • Assist and influence the development and use of transportation management and transportation optimization systems

  • Interface with IT, engineering and operations for system enhancements and upgrades

  • Implement transportation and logistics policy, including special projects


What you need to succeed at XPO:


At a minimum, you'll need:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 3 or more years of experience in the field of load planning/building and logistics management (Carriers, corporate logistics management or 3PLs); experience using the i2 Transportation Planner

  • Familiar with rating and pricing schemes for all transportation modes, including the mechanics of LTL class-rate tariffs, small parcel zone-based tariffs, and TL mileage-based tariffs, and accessorial charges

  • Knowledge of freight classification systems including NMFC classification and density-based classifications

  • Thorough knowledge of common logistics-related documentation, including bill of lading, standard claims forms, MSDS, etc.

  • Understand concepts that affect transportation costs, including lane balance, backhaul versus headhaul, seasonal capacity, transit time requirements, freight handling characteristics, etc.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), TMS, WMS, Rand McNally, MileMaker, etc.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
